Wow! Who knew what excitement and intrigue was in store for Marama and Ramaroa Nui when they arrived at school today?
Des Hunt arrived to share with us about writing and also to share some of his own novels.
We were totally hooked in by his creative method of teaching us about writing. He lured us in with his analogies relating to science and chemistry. He drew us in with his metaphorical approach and his dry sense of humour.
We all took something away with us today to apply to our own writing. We learnt the difference between writing in first person and third person, and how to draw our readers in.
Des writes realistic fiction and taught us about the best ingredients for a great story. He shared his own frustrations and disappointments within the whole writing process, and in particular his journey to be published.
We can't wait ti have Des back again, maybe we could have him backfire a whole day all to ourselves! He has so much knowledge to share! Thanks Des!
